Safe water supply plan

Project purpose is to develop a sustainable safe water supply plan for all union Parishad of Jhikargachha Upazila through Union Parishad. The Union Parishad member prepares the priority list of safe water device construction for their own union based on arsenic contamination map and safe water device location map. The DPHE and other organizations follows the priority list during new SWD construction in that union. A sustainable plan for safe water supply by Union Parishad is used to prevent the overlapping and is also helpful for proper distribution of safe water devices.

Restoration/repairing of inactive/problematic devices​

In the past the governmental institutions, international bodies, and non-governmental organizations installed a number of Safe water devices (SWD) in Jhikargachha Upazila. But many of them got inactive due to improper maintenance, water scarcity in dry season, and bad quality of water. To repair these SWDs is another target for the project. It is logically assumed that new device construction is more costly than to repair of the older ones. Therefore after repair, people can collect water from these potential sources of water. To avoid the water scarcity in dry season, a new technology (modified moon pump) is being attached with 6 no. hand pump during the repair.
