​Overall Goal: “Safe water supply service by Local Government (Union Parishad) is implemented in arsenic affected areas”

1.Arsenic mitigation is coordinated by the Union Parishad

2.Safe water is supplied to residents with the safe water supply plan created by Union Parishad

3.Management of safe water supply service is implemented by the Union Parishad (Local Government Institution)

4.Outputs of the project is disseminated

INDICATORS

1.All Union Parishad create arsenic contamination map, SWD location map and safe water supply plan by the end of the second year
2.50 SWD construction and 30 repairs of inactive SWD are completed for user committees in Jhikargacha Upazila by the end of the project
3.All Union Parishad adopt the Safe Water Supply Service for user committee in Jhikargacha Upazila by the end of the project
4.Outputs of the project on safe water supply service led by Union Parishad are understood by JCC member and government officers who attend workshop by the end of the project

A world where the people of arsenic contaminated area have strength to tackle arsenic problems and the arsenicosis patients are properly managed. In Bangladesh, Asia Arsenic Network (AAN) wants to see a country where easy access to safe water is ensured and management of arsenicosis patients is carried out with much care and coordination of all concerned. Create a heaven of safe water and healthy living for arsenic affected people

The purpose of the project is Model Building for safe water supply service by Local Government (Union Parishad). When the capacity of the safe water supply service by Union Parishad is strengthened, safe water can be supplied sustainably by constructing proper water devices at necessary sites based on a safe water supply plan, repairing inactive water devices that were left broken, and maintaining water devices systematically.
